KINTSUGI

Video/performance 00:11:08, MP4, 1080p, 30fps, sound on 2018. “Kintsugi” is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, most commonly by using golden joints. The compounds are not hidden but are emphasized by the golden lines, making the object more valuable, not only because of gold but for its history as well. My work ˝Kintsugi˝ is a private performance, documented in a video form by myself. First, I applied glue to my hips, and then the golden leaves. The lines I gilded are stretch marks on my hips. After removing the excess, the gold remains only at the places where the glue was applied. The result is kintsugi of my body, golden cracks on the skin. The work is presented as video documentation of my performance.
